Nothing like perfect timing: Only a few weeks after blocking Truphone's mobile VoIP client, T-Mobile launches an Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA)-based fixed mobile convergence (FMC) service that enables its subscribers to make calls from home or any place there's a T-Mobile Hot Spot via WiFi. HotSpot@Home service enables T-Mobile subscribers to make WiFi or cellular calls using a single number and seamlessly switch those calls between both networks. HotSpot@Home's introductory rates, which remain in place indefinitely for those who sign up now, price in at an additional $10 a month to individual users' T-Mobile calling plans, or an extra $20 a month for an additional five lines for those with family calling plans.
