BT [1] and Siemens [2] Enterprise Communications have teamed up to offer a converged communication solution for large multinational enterprises; no SMBs on the radar with this particular pairing. The BT/Siemens solution combines Siemens OpenScape suite of communications software applications and OpenScape services with BT's MPLS network. Enterprises get a single SLA as well as a flexible per-seat pricing module with a single point of contact for end-to-end managed services.
BT and Siemens have worked together on a "number of opportunistic engagements" over the last 21 months, leading into the current relationship to work with major multinationals. Three global customers with 20,000 seats in total are currently in operation under the solution; all three are outside of the UK.
"This is technology wrapped up and delivered as a service," stated a Siemens executive. "We're delivering a solution to customers to consolidate, converge and extend." Cost savings are delivered over the length of a multi-year contract. Large manufacturing and financial services are among the organizations that have either signed up or expressed interest in the BT/Siemens offering.
