Digium has delivered over 4 million ports, as Asterisk software continues to drive hardware sales for the company.
In an announcement that will likely cause heartburn to other hardware manufacturers supporting Asterisk, Digium says it has become the preferred source for interface cards, based upon quality, flexibility and performance. Digium's cards provide the interfaces to connect phone systems into different types of network ranging from analog POTS to digital PRIs and T1s.
Port number 4 million went to Ashley Furniture in a Switchvox SMB system through reseller/online retailer .e4 Technologies and Digium distributor NETXUSA.
The 4 million ports served announcement comes as Digium continues to expand its SMB appliances and carrier-grade offerings. Last month, Digium announced a partnership with U.K.-based Integrics for sales and marketing efforts to deliver a carrier-grade switch solution to carriers. In early June, the company rolled out the Digium/Switchvox AA300 appliance, an IP PBX turnkey appliance capable of supporting up to 150 users, as well as subtly introducing the larger AA350 without a formalized announcement.
