Cisco - Top 10 VoIP Leaders
Website: www.cisco.com
What makes it a fierce leader: Cisco is the gorilla in the room
when it comes to VoIP vendors and while its solutions may not always be pretty
Cisco has proven it can either build or buy what ever technology it needs to
remain competitive in the VoIP space. Its family of media gateways is the cash
cow and Cisco has enjoyed huge growth this year thanks to rapid spike in both
Comcast and Time Warner's VoIP consumer numbers. The surge in gateway demand has
seen Cisco leap ahead of its arch rival Nortel, to emerge as the unrivalled
leader of the vendor pack when the Q3 numbers were recently released. Cisco's dominance of the IP world was confirmed with the year end announcement that AT&T had selected Cisco to supply the super routers for the telco giant's 40 Gbps upgrade of its IP backbone.
What to look for: Cisco's IP heritage and genuine hunger by CEO
John Chambers to remake the company suggests Cisco is likely to remain the
industry major for some time to come. Global growth--especially Eastern Europe
and Asia Pacific--is likely to take the place of U.S. revenue, as Cisco seeks to
maintain top line sales growth in a sluggish U.S. market.
