BT gives Fusion FMC the go-ahead

Not all the technology news is coming out of CES this week, no matter how much it feels like it. BT, for instance, is finally talking about its Fusion FMC service, which promises to bridge between the cellular network and on-premises WiFi that connects to the PSTN. Originally, Fusion had been slated for a September 2006 rollout, and early tests used a Bluetooth access point rather than WiFi. Fusion requires BT cell service and broadband service. Calls are billed at the (higher) cell rate, which simplifies the hardest part of FMC: call accounting.
