D2 boosts vPort VoIP software for WiMAX, femtocells, and other mobile devices
At CES last week, D2 Technologies announced vPort 2.0, the latest version of its embedded VoIP software for OEMs and service providers. The new version now provides what the company describes as "optimized" support for the development of femtocells, mobile internet devices (MIDs) and mobile handset products, plus upgrades for support of WiMAX, wideband codecs and a laundry list of service provider hot button buzzwords.
Service providers get support for remote management of end-user devices using TR-069 and secure real-time transport protocol (SRTP). New codecs include GSM-AMR support for femtocells. There is increased embedded OS support for WinCE, Windows Mobile, VxWorks, Linux and Android. To ease the pain of corporate firewall issues, there's a complete suite of NAT Traversal software, including STUN, ICE and TURN.
Commercial availability of vPort 2.0 is expected toward the end of Q1 2009.
