Fring launches social mobile VoIP app
Fring has released a new version of its mobile VoIP application seeking to broaden its appeal as a social networking tool for users to talk, chat and interact from their mobile phones. Israeli VoIP developer Fring has enjoyed enormous popularity with its free download for users to make mobile VoIP calls to any other VoIP service--including Skype, Google Talk and MSN Messenger.
The new release includes a file sharing application to swap music tracks, pictures, video clips and other files from mobile-to-mobile and mobile-to-PC without the need for any special connection. It also enables chat between all the established IM clients and a FringMe service where users can be contacted direct from a web link. The FringMe service lets users with GPS-enabled handsets choose whether to have their real-time location displayed via a pop-up GoogleMap.
The rapid development of advanced VoIP-based mobile applications is emerging as a powerful new force in the technology world. Mobile internet is looking increasingly to be a major platform for business development and is exactly why Google has been prepared to spend billions on new wireless spectrum.
