fring raises $12 million
Israeli wVoIP startup fring is reported to have closed on $12 million in second round funding. Investors include North Bridge Venture Partner, VenFin, Pitango, Veritas and Yossi Vardi. fring had not officially announced the closure at press time.
fring did recently announce that it was adding ICQ instant messaging to its mobile VoIP platform, which is also compatible with Skype, Google Talk, Twitter and MSN Messenger. fring is currently in beta on select Nokia, Windows Mobile Series and Sony Ericsson handsets.
The free, downloadable application enables mVoIP calls and chats over GPRS, 3G and WiFi.
