Hosting PBX provider Vocalocity raises $4.1M
Vocalocity, a hosted PBX provider, has raised $4.1 million in a second round of venture funding. The new round deserves some scrutiny as to who is chipping in.
TechOperators, a newly formed venture partnership in Atlanta, is the lead investor in the second round. This is the first investment for TechOperators and its very first venture fund. Other contributors to the found include existing investors Noro-Moseley Partners, Pittco Capital Partners, Imlay Partners and members of the Vocalocity management team; the management team likely doesn't want to suffer too much dilution in their own stock holdings.
Vocalocity says it will continue targeting small businesses (enterprises with fewer than 20 employees) and plans to use the new funding to add new features, extend its apps platform, and "accelerate its growth," according to the press release. The company plans to roll out a complementary suite of apps over the next few months to provide "extended hosted IT infrastructure capabilities" - this reporter suspects this means some sort of data center/backup apps and perhaps call center functionality.
