Nortel CVAS leads the VoIP pack
Nortel decided it was time to connect all the dots for us and in a release today noted that all the recent VoIP market research reports had it's VoIP company at the head of the pack.
Infonetics Research's report, Service Provider VoIP Equipment and Subscribers Market Share, Size, and Forecasts for 3Q09, claimed that Nortel led globally in the total VoIP market and provided for 61 percent of the North American softswitch market. Dell'Oro Group's report, Carrier IP Telephony Report, Q309 agreed that Nortel CVAS was the leading supplier in the global Carrier VoIP and softswitch market and also pointed out that while the overall VoIP market declined seven percent, Nortel VoIP revenue grew four percent. Synergy Research Group's report, Carrier VoIP Worldwide Q3 2009 Market Share Update, added that Nortel was tops for the media gateway space for Q3 2009 as well.
This is all good news for a company selling off its assets, and particularly good news if they wish to sell off their CVAS segment like their Enterprise deal with Avaya. That transaction is a $915 million acquisition that could be completed by the end of the month.
