Pulver rides back with HD VoIP Summit

Tools

The Purple Pundit is back in action in the VoIP arena. Jeff Pulver has announced a call for speakers for the HD VoIP Summit on May 21, 2009, in New York City. But will he host it in the Puck Building?

To "explore issues associated with the widespread deployment of HD VoIP," the new conference coincidentally comes on the heels of Skype announcing its SILK royalty-free superwideband codec this week out at eComm. Pulver says HD voice holds the same promise for the telecom industry as format changes do in the entertainment industry, with the HDTV shift being a potential (Hardware/services) model.

Vendors should be demoing product and platforms at the summit, and Pulver promises that "we will take a look at the issues and challenges for the transformation of the existing communications infrastructure into one which supports HD."
