Rumor Mill: O2 buying Jajah
VoIP start-up Jajah may be purchased by O2 for $200 million according to a daisy chain of reports originating from a Hebrew-language news site but re-reported in the Washington Post, on Reuters and CNET.
According to reports, Jajah representatives were not available to confirm the $200 million purchase or the bidding war that preceded it. O2's office said the news is nothing but speculation. Cisco and Microsoft were both rumored to be bidding against O2 for the company. Jajah provides low-cost international Internet-based calling to 25 million users.
Recently, Jajah had announced the beta launch of VoIP calling functionality for Twitter called "@call." When two Twitter users registered for the Beta test, all they had to do is send an "@call" message to their Twitter friend to connect for a two-minute call. Jajah also does blind VoIP calls for Match.com.
