SPOTLIGHT: 8x8 Shows up at Staples.com

Packet8 Virtual Office Small Business Phone System is now available through Staples.com, only going to show that both IP PBX appliances and hosted solutions are going mass market big time these days.

Packet8's Virtual Office service provides what one would expect out of a hosted PBX solution, including auto attendant, extension dialing, voice mail, a full featured conference bridge and ring group--plus the combo of unlimited local and long distance calling plans in the U.S., Canada, and eight other countries.

Needless to say, Packet8 isn't alone when it comes to tapping into the Big Box outlets; for example, Costco sells Microsoft's ResponsePoint IP PBX. But there is also research suggesting SMBs are leaning more on consultants than pulling solutions off the shelf.
