Sylantro fires up Synapps server
Speaking of smart networks and hosted services, Sylantro Systems announced the Synapps Server, a web services API platform that promises to speed the development of web-based applications served over VoIP networks. Shirish Andhare, Sylantro's director of product management, told a press breakfast at VON that carriers and service providers "are beginning to focus on the user experience," making applications and their interfaces increasingly important. One early client is fixed-mobile convergence vendor FirstHand Technologies, which says it will use the Synapps server to allow fixed-line carriers to extend call presence to mobile devices. Other proposed uses are developing web-based click-to-call services or hosted VoIP integration with CRM or software as a service--features usually reserved for mid-to-large enterprises, company officials said.
