Telekom invests in Jajah

Tools

You've certainly heard the maxim about keeping your friends close but your enemies closer. T-Mobile parent Deutsche Telekom apparently has too, splashing out to help fund a venture round at Jajah. (Intel just put in $20 million; Telekom's investment wasn't disclosed.) It may seem odd for an old-line telco/cellco to be investing in a company that so attacks its business model. But Telekom's fixed wire business is shrinking whether it does innovative stuff or not, buying into Jajah looks like a pretty cheap bet on something that may pay off in a big way down the road.
