Truphone intros flat-rate calling plan
Determined to disturb carriers around the globe, mobile VoIP player Truphone has introduced two flat-rate calling plans, one for calling to landlines and one for mobiles.
Truphone customers can get unlimited calls to landlines in 38 countries for just $14.40 per month under the "TruUnlimited for Landlines" plan. It also throws in calls to mobile phones in some locations, such as the U.S., Canada, China and Hong Kong, at no extra charge.
For people calling mobiles more frequently, "TruUnlimited for Mobiles" provides unlimited calls to mobile phones in 64 countries, as well as unlimited calls to landlines, for just $35 a month.
To take advantage of these plans, a free download of the Truphone application software is needed - iPhone, Nokia Symbian N & E Series devices, Google Android G1 and BlackBerry Messenger phones are supported.

I signed up for Truphone 3-4 days ago with their unlimited plan, and within three days of their launch they have decided to halt their unlimited service. When you call their customer service:US: 1 347 694 5000, they say that they are having some issues with the unlimited service and that some users are abusing it and whatsoever. Their terms says that they consider 3000 minutes to be reasonable allowance, however, I think they have generalized as I have personally made only about 100 minutes worth of calls. Without any prior notification, they not stopped providing service, they instead put me on the standard pay per min plan, unbeknownst to me I kept making calls and kept losing money until this morning. When I called, they said they are going to have some directors meeting come tuesday after easter to decide on the plan.
This is nothing but a big disaster for truphone.
Truphone tried to launch big in US, however, they have failed to deliver their product in the first few days.
Do not Sign Up!!
Bad Bad Bad company and service!!
Excatly the same thing happened here in the UK. After signing up for the Tru Unlimited package, i got a text aftrca few days use, saying i was being moved to the Standard service for breaching the terms of the package, i checked the call log on my phone(There is none available in your Truphone account)and found out i was still well within the 3000min limit(i had only used 300mins).
I called Truphone Cust service and was told stories about "problems with the unlimited package" "messages were sent in error", and "it will all be resolved shortly" - that was 1 week ago.
All subsequent calls are now met with "directors in meeting trying to sort it out".
I called today and threathened legal action. They also too £40 from my card instead of the £25 being charged here in the UK, citing it was the way the automatic top up system worked.
I have requested a full refund of all monies taken as they are unable to provide the service i signed up for.
They offered to transfer the existing balance to the Standard package which i refused, as this was not what i paid for - Truphone's Standard package is the most expensive in the VOIP industry!
I am still waiting to hear from them, and will commence legal action if necessary.
Its abig shame, as i have been with Truphone since its inception, and slowly watched its prices climb well above everyone else, but i stayed, and used them selectively as they offered good service.
Not so sure anymore, as this fiasco seem like a fraud and deception - Lets create a cheaper tariff, charge for it, then suspend it and move all users to the more expensive one whilst refusing any refunds.
