Verizon Business gets $70M Army UC deal

Tools

Verizon Business announced Wednesday that it would revamp communications installations at five U.S. Army bases, projects that could net the company $70 million. The orders were placed through the Installation, Information, Infrastructure, Modernization contract, and will take place at the following Army bases: Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland; the Fort Greely, Range Operations Center and the Cold Regions Test Center in Alaska; Fort Lee, Virginia; Fort Sill, Oklahoma; and Kwajalein Atoll / Kwajalein Missile Range.

This contract win for Verizon Business comes on the heels of its announcement last week of a $108 million project with NASA and demonstrates the company's strong presence in government communications contracts.

"Moving to a modern IP infrastructure will give these installations the speed, reliability, security, quality and flexibility that today's vital network-centric Army and joint operations require," said Susan Zeleniak, group president of Verizon Federal. "As the Army moves to ‘EoIP,' or everything over IP, Verizon Business is working to help it transform its communications from the factory to the front lines."

The installations will involve the integration of voice, data, cable plants, and transmissions products to help modernize the Army's communications capabilities.
