Verizon Business inks $108M deal with NASA

Verizon Business finalized an extension to its contract to provide communications and teleconferencing support to NASA through 2017. If all options on the contract are exercised, it will be worth $108 million.

Under the contract Verizon Business will provide conferencing services to all NASA facilities and some contract locations as well. The services will be provided under the U.S. General Services Administration's Networx Universal contract.

"Whether NASA is planning its next mission or communicating with astronauts on the international space station, Verizon Business is working with the agency to keep its employees connected throughout its universe," said Susan Zeleniak, group president of Verizon Business's Federal sales arm, in a prepared statement. "By providing a range of advanced conferencing technologies, we are helping NASA both reduce travel costs and improve how the organization collaborates."

NASA is Verizon Business's largest federal conferencing customer, according to the company. In addition to standard and video conferencing services, Verizon Business provides the national space agency with managed network services, VoIP and PSTN services.
