VoIP Most Expensive IT Service

Tools

A report by OnForce puts VoIP-related IT services 50 percent per hour more on average than other IT services, making them the most expensive.

The average IT service work order value for VoIP is $449, as compared to $282 for wiring and cabling work, $210 for network work, and $197 for server work. OnForce says VoIP is the most expensive IT service because it's an emerging technology compared to established categories like networking and computers. Or, as VARs and solution providers imply, "Where there is mystery, there is margin."

IT services companies are also happy about the invoices they're racking up to install VoIP systems, with a typical install billing at nearly $2,500. VoIP work orders are also up at a rate of 150 percent year-over-year increase in services run through the OnForce Marketplace. Companies are trying to solve a "last mile" problem, hiring outside help to implement VoIP at the workplace to cover a gap in skills or coverage with existing/available IT resources.
