VON: Emphasizing handset sound quality
All the QoS monitoring in the world won't make a difference if your handset's a tin can. Two companies had VON announcements. Polycom rolled out its HD Voice technology, which it's first putting in its SoundPoint IP 650 SIP phone. And GIPS, whose codecs are all over the VoIP world, announced version 2 of its iSAC codec. The previous version was aimed at softphones; this new version is optimized for deployment on network and handset hardware.
