Vonage reportedly signs with VoIP Inc. as Plan B

Tools

Not that anyone expected it would, but Vonage isn't exactly sitting still as the clock (now at 5 days) ticks down to the effective date of an injunction coming out of its patent suit loss to Verizon. Vonage has reportedly signed with VoIP Inc., a facility-based carrier, to carry its traffic. Two of the three patents that Vonage violated have to do with connecting VoIP calls to the PSTN, TelecomWeb reports; a deal with VoIP Inc. would sidestep that. The site also cites a recent VoIP Inc. 8-K statement that says one of its subsidiaries has a deal to "provide certain network services" to Vonage for at least two years. Sounds to us like a Plan B.
