Vyke adds text messaging to mobile VoIP client
Saying it costs NASA less to send data back and forth to the Hubble space telescope than it costs Brits to text their mates, Vyke extends its Jajah-like service to text messaging using the Java Messaging API. Like Truphone, which also has added text messaging to its mobile VoIP client, Vyke defends its right to provide cheap text services across other carriers' networks. Vyke customers can use it to text each other for free and pay mere pennies to text anyone else. A showdown with carriers and regulators seems inevitable.
