XConnect creates HD calling trial

Tools

IP interconnection and ENUM service provider XConnect announced that it is forming a group to trial High Definition calling. The group will be open to qualified carriers (Polycom was one supporting company mentioned in the release) and will allow multiple providers using the G.722 wideband codec to test the interoperability, scalable interconnection, reliability and support of XConnect federation services.

In order for HD Voice to work across networks, providers must insure that the entire call path and endpoints support HD. XConnect's trial will serve as a way for providers to test their networks and make sure they meet the requirements before they launch their HD Voice services.
