I have just come across your voip phone facility. I'm impressed as to the clarity of voice and absence of delay. It is,by far, the best voip phone software I've tried. My only adverse comment is, that I think your international calling rates are somewhat high. Hard on us pensioners!!
My post was for Jajah.
Very simple...Jajah tells you calls are free if you adhere to their fair use policy - but INSISTS that you pay up to "maintain a minimum balance" in their account in order to make these free calls. Hey Jajah: Free IS Free, it's 2006 and it's Web 2.0 time...you can't hide your business model if it is flawed...
the best I ever seen. If they keep free forever I will appreicate them through bottom of my heart.
It's NOT really free... nore cheap: You HAVE to use your credits till a certain period of time otherwise the credit you bought is lost... and you have to buy new credit again!
Other that this, the service works great! Best voice quality than any other service offered so far.
Stay away from Jajah's paid service. I've already written twice to Jajah support as a *paid customer* and have not got any response for the issues below. Now I'm planning on making formal complaints to consumer protection agencies in the US and Germany.
This is what I've been sending them:
1. Some days ago I was charging my account and wanted to credit only 10 euros, but instead ended up crediting 50 euros because of the way the top up works. I cannot afford to spend this much money in one go. Hence I would like you to reverse part of the credit, leaving about 10 euros in my account.
It would be better if you have a confirmation screen, which asks for user confirmation before processing a payment. Any website which requires payment always has a confirmation screen showing clearly the final amount to be charged BEFORE such a charge is made. This is clearly a shortcoming with your site, and something which would have prevented me overcharging my account.
2. It is strange that you store user credit card information and do not have a way to remove it. I should have a choice to remove any and all credit card information from your website. This is a violation of my privacy rights and for this alone I can take you to court.
3. The top-up function does not work correctly, because of which I had problem #1 that I've already noted above. There is no way to turn off top off. If I uncheck the box, I need to click on "pay now" and then the amount gets charged without any user confirmation. This is clearly an unfair trade practice.
I completely agree with ZeHawk. DO NOT use jajah's services. They completely violate consumer rights. I have sent complaints to them and have only received one *automated* response back.
1. Jajah claims to offer free calls between users who both have accounts and have paid at least once for services. After I had been making many, many calls on Jajah from India to the United States did I realize that I was actually being charged. After filing a complaint, I received a very late automated email back from Jajah saying that those free calls only apply to North American and European companies.
2. You can't disable the top off. I've tried numerous times, and yes, if you want to unclick the box, you have to actually make a payment for it to take effect. Furthermore, I just checked, and that option is no longer there. There is no top off option listed for me to even try to disable, it just does it automatically, and the user is left helpless and out of money.
3. When Jajah tops my account, it has consistently charged me more each time. The top off should only apply to a charge amount I had previously authorized.
4. Like the user above, I can't get my credit card information out of their system, and this is more than ridiculous. This is definitely a violation of my privacy rights, and I also am looking into filing a complaint with a consumer protection agency.
*Additionally, my service from Jajah in India can only be described as awful. The calls go out very frequently and are full of static. In fact, I have not been able to make any Jajah calls inside my house or my office. I have to go outside.
They also started to charge 1% more than you actually select. So when you add $10 they charge $10.10 and don't credit it to your account. When you e-mail customer service about it they just play stupid and insist they only charged what they credited.
